Par ailleurs, le CMIM rappelle que Simon Durivage, animateur au Réseau de l’information de Radio-Canada, pianiste, mélomane et porte-parole médias pour l’édition Piano 2008, renouvèle son engagement pour les trois prochaines années : Chant 2009, Violon 2010 et Piano 2011.
L’édition Chant 2009 du CMIM se déroulera du 18 au 28 mai prochains. Montréal accueillera alors quelques-uns des meilleurs jeunes chanteurs de la planète.

Montreal International Musical Competition, Voice 2009: things are shaping up…
With about 4 months to go before the start of 2009 Voice edition of the Montreal International Musical Competition, details are falling into place… 200 applications from 35 countries have been received.Details: 144 women (including 121 sopranos) and 56 men. The highest number of participants is from Canada (59, of whom 19 are from Quebec), South Korea (39), and the United States (21). Among others are France (11), Russia (10), Armenia, China and Brazil (7 each), and Turkey (4). An application also came in from Uzbekistan… From these 200 applications, accompanied by recordings that will be heard by 3 different juries before the end of February, 32 candidates will be selected to take part in the Quarter Final round, then 16 for the Semi-final, and 8 for the Final. The official list of candidates will be revealed in May at the Competition’sinauguralpress conference.
Prize and engagements valued at over $150,000 CAD will be awarded to the winners and finalists.

-COVC Jean A. Chalmers Award for the Best Canadian Artist offered by the Canadian Opera Volunteer Committee $10,000

-People’s Choice Award "Tribute to André Turp" $2,500
Engagements
Over the court of the next few seasons, musical organisations will grant an engagement to a laureate or finalist of their choice.![]()
Canadian record label ANALEKTA will record and internationally distribute a CD by the First Prize winner of the Montreal International Musical Competition.
International Jury
Presided over by MIMC president and co-founder André Bourbeau, the jury for the 2009 edition will be made up of American soprano and Chair of the voice department at the Juilliard School in New York Edith Bers; Canadian administrator Philip Boswell (Canadian Opera Company); Finnish baritone Tom Krause; Spanish Artist Representative Miguel Lerin (grandson of the famous tenor Francisco Viñas); Canadian bass Joseph Rouleau; O.C., G.O.Q., JMC president and MIMC co-founder; American soprano Shirley Verrett; and Vadim Zhuravlev, in charge of programming at the Bolshoi in Moscow.
MIMC administrators are also especially proud to announce that Simon Durivage — host on Radio-Canada’s Réseau de l’information, pianist, music lover, and spokesperson for the 2008 Piano edition — has renewed his commitment for the next three years: Voice 2009, Violin 2010, and Piano 2011.
The 2009 Voice edition of the MIMC will take place from May 18 to 28, when Montreal will be host to some of the world’s finest young singers.
